The BER Process

1. Make contact with me for quote (quote is based on house type, room numbers, previous extensions, and complexity (an emailled photo and eircode can help))2. If you are happy with the quote, I then email a letter of engagement to you to read, sign and return3. We arrange a suitable date for me to perform the BER survey on your house (survey takes approx 1-3 hr)4. Ensure you have gathered all the relivent "client checklist" information below before my BER survey visit5. Using the information gathered from the survey and post survey research, I make the necessary calculations and input all the data into SEAI's software to ascertain the buildings energy use and resulting Building Energy Rating. I upload this BER certificate to the SEAI's database, and issue a copy to you along with an advisory report with potential upgrade recommendations

Client Checklist

Information to have gathered before the BER Survey

1. Address, Eircode & MPRN (can be found on your electricity bill)2. Age of construction - proof of the year the house was built (if extensions were built, additional proof is required for the year of construction for this too). Proof can be legal documents (deeds, planning applications, commencment notice).3. If you can, information on the make and model of your boiler and/or other heat sources.4. If applicable, proof of any insulation upgrades (documentation, certifications, receipts, invoices and/or signed as-built specification documents (drawings or written) from the architect, engineer or contractor who managed the works, that indicate who the signee is, the address of the dwelling, the works carried out, and the products used. (e.g. for wall insulation this would include the wall area covered, the insulation type/product certificate, and the thickness of insulation used)5. If applicable, proof of any window & door upgrades - certification information for windows and doors. (e.g. for windows, certification information should be in english and include the make, model, glazing, u-value of overall window and solar transmittance value of the glass g⊥). Accredited certification includes: NSAI WEP (Window Energy Performance), or BFRC.6. If applicable, any air test reults - (performed by accredited tester (NSAI or INAB ) - IS EN ISO 9972).7. If applicable, information on any heat pump installed - Ecodesign data, EN16147 data and designer/installer sign-off sheet for heat pumps, accredited test
certificates, etc., heating design sheets & radiator technical data sheets.
